How to Paint the Beadboard Ceiling

Beadboard ceiling add architectural interest to a room and can be used to easily cover the mistakes of drywall. Like most of the ceilings, paint beadboard ceilings are a little more difficult to paint the walls. When possible, paint the beadboard before installing it on the ceiling. It is much easier to paint beadboard before installation.

Instructions to paint beadboard ceiling: wear clothing and eye paint. Paint drip on you when painting the ceiling. Put rags on the floor below the beadboard ceiling. Clean the roof. Clean the beadboard with a clean cloth and degreaser. Make any repairs beadboard. Fill holes or dents in the beadboard with wood putty. Let the putty dry and sand it with fine sandpaper grain. Remove sanding dust with a damp cloth.

Prepare the beadboard. Latex primary runs the beadboard with a paint roller. After spreading primer on beadboard run a brush between the rows to remove paint drops. Give the primer two hours to dry. Paint the beadboard ceiling with latex paint. Work in small sections at a time. Spread the paint on the beadboard with a paint roller and brush run between the grooves to remove excess paint. Repeat as needed, letting each layer of paint dry before applying the next.
